The Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) Listed Managed Investments (LMI) July 2010 Update shows exchange traded funds have hit a new all time record high with $3.7 billion in FUM. At the same time State Street Global Advisors have announced their SPDR Family of ETFs have hit an all time record high of $3 billion showing their dominance of the industry. The most popular ETF being SPDR 200 (STW) which tracks the leading Australian benchmark being the S&P/ASX 200 index.
The Australian ETF market cap has increased by 69% over the last 12 months with ETFs and ETC combined achieveing record trading of $540 million for the monthy of July. This compares to Listed Investment Companies that recorded $164 million of trading volume for the same time period. New issues increased by 28% and Liquidity continues to run at the highest level of all LMI's with 165% turnover on market.
